About:
Fertile Folklore Productions is a small label run by a small collective of musicians. We’re currently offering sound production services. Including recording audio in our sound studio, as well as live recordings.
All of the people involved in our company have intimate knowledgeable with the equipment, due to the fact they have had hands on experience building out our studio, and using it on their own recordings for well over a year now. Also many have advanced knowledge from schools, and previous studio work. We are highly experienced with our equipment, and know how to make your tracks shine!

Recording Details:
When you arrive everything is ready to go, which we will discuss ahead of time, this way only preference changes need to occur. We are highly flexible working with artist busy schedules, and studio experience levels. We enjoy working equally with a band of young musicians needing a demo, wanting to do a 4 track EP in one day. As working with a singing songwriter who would like to schedule a 2-hour session every week, to progressively work on a full album from one professional source.
Singing songwriters who are unable to go into a professional studio for a week, and record and album. We offer weekly recording sessions as a way to achieve the quality of tracks you want over a couple months, which can’t be produced in any other manner. We also have close ties to a plethora of studio musicians!
We enjoy what we do and feel we do it well; we have strong philosophies about recording. Like having FUN, because if your not, you can tell on the tracks even if your in tune. Location Details:
Our private one room sound studio is located in a residential neighborhood off of Alvarado/Fremont Blvd & 880 in Union City. The studio was designed, and houses equipment, for full bands to record. It has been an ongoing project since 2002.
Studio Details:
There is additional access to electric drums, conga’s, bongo’s, bells, shakers/toys, and an array of other instruments. The main space set up includes; 2 electric guitar rigs, 1 electric bass rig, acoustic-electric guitar + bass, keyboard + midi rigs, standard 4 piece acoustic drum kit (very customizable, numerous toms / cymbals), various pedal effects, etc. We have access to a plethora of other equipment that you may need, just let us know in advance! You are always encouraged to bring in any of your own equipment that your comfortable with, and you feel is critical to your sound.
Our recording equipment is based around AVID Protools (we also run Cuebase) on a MacPro system. Our fridge sized rack runs a 2000watt PA, 22 channel mixer, EQ, compressor, headphone splitter (10 sets of separate headphone channels - we use splitters if more is needed), splitter/mixer router, Firestudio 26x26, Digidesign Rack003, and 5+ different speaker systems including KRK monitors.
Our microphone cabinet is standard including SM58’s, AT2020, MXL4000, MXL990, CAD drum microphone package, etc. We are friends with numerous other small local producers, and we’ve been sharing microphones for a while allowing all of us to invest in other equipment. Due to this we have never run into a shortage of quality microphones. Also we have pop screens, etc, but will spare you from listing the unnecessary rest.

Pricing:
Recording – $40 per hr
(2nd technician increases speed + quality exponentially @ $50 per hr)
*We charge 1 hr set up + take down fee; even though it takes us longer.
Mastering - $30 per hr
(2nd technician increases speed + quality exponentially @ $35 per hr)
* We encourage you to partake in the process to ensure it comes out how you envision.
Live Recordings:
All live recordings we handle on a case-by-case event, due to the variance in what is required & desired. We currently can run 12-track simultaneous recording; for bigger events we add stereo mixers for drums, horn sections, etc (our limits around 30 live microphones recording). Feel free to contact us with event details, and we will be able to get an estimate back to you.
